Beautiful Wasteland presents a series of contemporary photographs that convey an unfiltered narrative, guided by geographical boundaries and inspired by the words of Edward Abbey - “Phoenix, Arizona: an oasis of ugliness in the midst of a beautiful wasteland.” This photographic essay documents the inner city limits of Phoenix, AZ as well as the surrounding suburb areas including Mesa, Gilbert, Scottsdale, Tempe, Glendale, Tolleson, and more. Exhibiting the influence of everyday life on local citizens, business owners, town events, and the cultural construct that has contributed to the identity of this, Beautiful Wasteland.
